Undergraduate honors defenses (2025)

Two of our undergraduates, Anna Perry and Alex Koeppel, defended their honors theses this semester!

Anna’s thesis project investigated which neurons in the sugar taste pathway are involved in modulating future feeding responses to water. She has a great set of data that we hope to include in a paper soon. In the meantime, she will be starting her PhD at UNC this fall!!

Alex’s thesis project examined foraging behavior as a model for decision-making. He has been mentored by Marco Peña Garcia, a PhD student in the lab. Alex will be staying in the lab for about 6 months to finish collecting data for this project while he applies for medical school.
